Personal Statement
My name is Alex Jacobs, I am on the Hightower High School Varsity Baseball Team. This game built me to be the person that I am today. The three words I get from this game are Honor, Pride, and Discipline. I contribute these three words in the game and also in everyday of my life. I became interested in the game of baseball when I was nine years old. I believe that it' s in my blood to play this beautiful game because all my uncles and my father played baseball. They told me if I didn't play baseball they would disown me and treat me like a foreign citizen. My academic goals for high school is to maintain A's & B's throughout my freshman to senior year. I am currently on the path towards my goal with a 3.3 GPA. When I graduate high school, my goal in college is to do my best and to balance my class work with baseball. Baseball is important but, what's more important to me is my grades, no pass no play! The reason why I play this sport is to prove to people that it doesn't matter where you come from, it only matters where you're going. The baseball program that I'm in has had a losing record for the past 6 years, so when people here that they start to stereotype. I tell players/coaches that I'm from Hightower High School and they think; we don't have to worry about him. When I hear that it hurts but I turn all that negativity into motivation, because I'm not just playing for me, I'm playing for the generations under me. I heard Inky Johnson say, "I might find something broken but when I leave, I will leave it fixed." That's the reason why I push so hard, to make it to the next level.
