Personal Statement
My name is Sean Michael Traverse. I am a 16 year old sophomore at Obion County Central High School in Troy, TN. Like most boys, I started playing team baseball when I was 5 years old. However, my love for baseball developed way before that. Since the time I could walk, I had a baseball in my hand. I cannot think of a moment in my life that I was not thinking about baseball or playing the sport. Research projects that I have done have revolved around my sport. I have worked my whole life for this moment. I do very well in school. I have a 3.8 GPA. I am a member of HOSA because I aspire to be a physical therapist. I want to be a physical therapist because I want to always be around baseball. I am also a youth leader at my church where I am responsible for teaching the 6th grade boys in our community. I also help with vacation bible school at our church and with the drama club in a local school. I work very hard to reach my goals. I have worked hard to be a starter on the varsity squad as a sophomore. Not only do I start, but I am an utility player. My coaches want me in the line up and know that they can count on me to play any position on the field. I play left and right field, second, short, and third. Right now, I am running a 7.3 60 yard dash, but I am working hard to get it less than 7. My coaches have high expectations for me in the next two years. They want me at 3rd base and batting in the 3 hole. I have taken lessons my whole life, and I have been complimented on my swing repeatedly. It is something that I have worked hard on over the years. I expect perfection in all aspects of my life. I work hard to be as close to perfect as I can. I will make a good candidate for you team because no one will work harder than I will, and I will do my absolute best at what ever position you choose to put me in. I will ask for extra practice time to perfect my skills. I am different than any other candidate because I have passion for the sport. It isn't about making it to a division 1 college or MLB; it is about continuing to perfect the love of my life and to be able to play the sport for as long as I can. I want to inspire others to work hard to reach their dreams. This includes working hard in school, community involvement, and baseball. I am from a small town where a handful of people have made it anywhere. I am working hard to get noticed in this small town so that I can let younger children know that it is possible to make your dreams come true as long as you are willing to put in the work. I am very coachable. I want my coaches to tell me what I am doing wrong and to show me what to do to fix it. When I am told how to fix something, then I will want someone to work with me until I have it perfected. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I hope that I am the perfect candidate for your team. I promise to do my best to make your team the best.
