Hello, my name is Jared Fong and I live in Austin, Texas. I attend Westlake High School, which is ranked as one of the Top 100 academic high schools in the US by US News magazine. I am currently a Junior (Class 2017), and am an excellent student. I have a 4.2/4.0 gpa and recently scored 1510/1600 on the SAT. I am a member of the National Honors Society. As for baseball, I have been playing since I was 10 years old and love the game. I am always looking to improve and contribute wherever possible- on the field or in the dugout. I work year-round at improving my skills from being a better hitter as well as defensively in the infield. I am very open to where I will attend college. I hope to play at a college where the team is as competitive on the field as the academics is in the classroom.
Regarding the question, "What makes me different from other recruits?" I'd like to say "character". I was raised to be honest, work hard, and respect all people, no matter one man's skin, beliefs, or past, he should deserve the same respect of a man with power. Athletically, I am 6'2" 200 pounds and very strong and athletic. I live in a very health conscious household and eat healthy and exercise regularly. And since Westlake HS is a very academically competitive school, I enjoy challenging myself among other high academic students. I also like to think my high classroom IQ also translates to my on field baseball acumen. Thank you, Jared

- Invitation Only Event. Approximately 20 top Texas High School and College Student Athletes participated with Tampa Bay Rays Scouting team- local, regional, and national cross checkers. All of us received personal instructions and feedback. It was a lot of fun competing against some of the finest 18-20 year old players in Texas and gauging my skills against them.

- Personal Strength & Conditioning Coach Jordan Kpaka
- 4 years
- Jordan Kpaka is a personal trainer to many NFL and NBA athletes. He customizes training programs for each athlete respective to his/her sport and what areas of strength needed to reach the next level. Jordan has helped me with my core and lower body strength, along with my flexibility and agility. He also teaches me the importance of stretching and post-game workouts.
