My name is Grant Koskay, since I was a little boy my dad has implanted a work ethic and a desire to succeed that has grown me into the person I am today. My number one goal from as early as I can remember is to play baseball at the college level and to represent my family and the school I commit to to the best of my ability. I dont just want to be another face in the crowd, I want to be great. This includes academically just as much as athletically.
I believe I have many skills to bring to the table. I might not be the biggest guy but I play a lot bigger than I look, and I have a desire to succeed that gets me to where I want to go and achieve what I want to achieve. I'm a team player and there are no off days for me. What separates me from my competition is my leadership, character, athletic ability, work ethic, commitment, and goal orientation. I am a very responsible person and play the right way on the field. I never get in trouble on or off the field, and I approach every failure as a learning experience and a way to get better. I am respectful to my teammates, classmates, coaches, teachers, and all adults. I am also very trustworthy and honest. I am a responsible person and do the right thing even if no one is watching.
Some of my strongest skills are speed, consistency at the plate, and a high baseball IQ. I am very fast on the base paths as well as the outfield, and have a natural ability to get great reads on fly balls off the hitters bat. I am also a very consistent hitter and have a good power stroke for my size. I know the game of baseball very well and am always pitch to pitch thinking about what I need to do if the ball is hit to me, or if I am at the plate what my approach needs to be.
I am a very focused athlete on getting my body and my mind ready to play the game. I work out 5-6 days a week with a professional strength and conditioning coach at Velocity Sports Performance, and my hitting coach is a Toronto Blue Jays scout. I view every workout and every session with my hitting coach as a way to get better and improve, and I consistently watch film of my at bats to study what I do from at bat to at bat. I am a very committed person to baseball and my academics, and I never quit even after I accomplish a goal, because there is always another one. I am tough and persistent, and I believe nobody can beat me when I'm out on that field. I look forward to taking my talents to the next level.
