My name is Jeremy Barclay and I’m 16 years old. I am 5’11 ½” and my weight is 170 lbs. I am currently an honor roll student and workout every day on the field and in the gym to get stronger and improve my baseball skills. I would love to play baseball at the collegiate level.
I’ve played baseball ever since I can remember. I tried other sports, but I always wound up back to doing what I love…BASEBALL!! Being on the baseball field is the one place where I’m perfectly comfortable. I am able to focus on getting the job done. My ambition is to play college baseball and excel as an athlete and a student.
A few highlights and accomplishments that I’m proud of; Travel Ball - Cooperstown my team placed 21st out of 104 teams and at Cal Ripken my team place 5th out 24. School Ball - I have received the silver slugger award and JV MVP award. As a freshman I played both JV and Varsity and was the only freshman to be pulled up to varsity. That year our team made it to Regionals. As a sophomore I played both JV and Varsity. I was the starting catcher and Leadoff batter for JV and for Varsity I played outfield.
I’ve found out that baseball can be applied in everyday life; it is a mental and physical game. A few things that I have learned from baseball are that it takes hard work and dedication to become better athlete, this lesson will also help me be successful in my adult life. Hard work and dedication is the key to success in baseball and life. I have also learned how to work as a team, and this is applied on and off the field daily weather I’m working on a group project at school or playing as a team to win the game. It has taught me to control my emotions and stay relaxed no matter what the situation. One of the biggest things I’ve learned is to not let mistakes get me down, but to learn from them so that I can be the best athlete and person I can be.
The love of my family and my love for baseball has helped shape me into the person I am today. I hope to continue to improve in all aspects of my life. I wouldn’t be who I am today without baseball. I feel that I would be a strong asset to any team due to the fact that I’m a team player, hard worker, and dedicated.
