Personal Statement

My love for the game of baseball is unwavering.  Since the eighth grade, I have committed to a rigorous training program of daily conditioning, weight-lifting, hitting, and my true love, catching. I have been the starting catcher on my High School team since my Freshman year. I was named All-Conference my Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior years in High School.  I am a hardworking, defensive catcher, and I focus on always playing with high intensity . I love to lead, both on and off the diamond.  I have organized workouts and baseball practices for the Eighth Grade, Junior Varsity, and Varsity teams during the off-season, and I have taught private hitting and catching lessons to youth players in our community.  Coaching is a true passion of mine, and I love to share my knowledge of the game with young players who are developing their skills.  I would bring a positive and confident presence to your program, while producing in the classroom and on the field. My leadership skills and knowledge of the game are frequently recognized by my teammates, coaches, and opposing players. I pride myself in being an excellent teammate, by always supporting and encouraging from the beginning to the end of each game.

I have a "work hard-play hard" mentality. When I am not studying or playing baseball, I thoroughly enjoy playing music.  I play guitar, dobro, bass, and drums.  I have taken college music classes, and I played with the band, "Mis'ry Creek, for three years.  I have sung and played at nursing homes, in church, at the Dock Boggs Festival, and the Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion.  Music has been an avenue to meet many people with unique backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs, and I have learned that each human interaction is an opportunity to grow and learn about life.

I want a attend a college that will provide me with a comprehensive and robust education.  I also want to further develop myself as an independent, yet open-minded, and compassionate person.  I look to grow as an athlete and as a person during my collegiate experience, and I vow to be honorable and respectful in all aspects of my life.
