I attend a very small rural high school, not known as a powerhouse in any particular sport. I had to branch out and search for a much higher level of competition to make myself better. Two years ago I was a sophomore put on a varsity team that was not disciplined at all, and it showed. We finished the year with 7 wins, 14 losses. Now with most of the seniors off the team I took over the leadership role and helped our team get where we wanted to be. I assisted our coach during practices. I ran drills I had learned from my travel ball experience to help the coach focus more on individual player issues rather than just doing the same thing with each player. When our coach was pitching batting practice he entrusted me with the task of helping teach our young squad proper fielding footwork and mechanics. I was the team infield coach essentially. This past year we had a record of 12-7 and with 2 starting freshman!
I have recruited 3 players from my high school that I think can play at an elite level to my travel organization. Baseball has taught me to keep high standards for myself on and off the field. In the class room, my friends and I have a competition on who can get the highest score on the test, quiz or various assignments. I have been put on the top prospect list for several dynamic showcase events. My coaches for travel and high school are confident in my ability to play every position on the field. I believe that I can be a great addition to any team I join. I will let no one outwork me.
