Personal Statement
My name is Hayden Swisher, and I attend Virginia Episcopal School, class of 2018. I am 6’7"’, 185 pound first baseman and pitcher. As a sophomore, I was awarded with Most Valuable Player for my high school team, along with Honorable Mention All-Conference. I also play for the Virginia Swamp Things, a travel team based out of Petersburg, Virginia. I am a hard-working, committed, and honest player who loves the game of baseball and wants to compete at the highest level possible. I have played baseball for as long as I can remember, although my true passion and drive to get better was found during my freshman year, when I first realized that I wanted to pursue the game at a higher level. I began to work on my game during the offseason; I met with a pitching coach every weekend for ten weeks, I went to the cages, threw bullpens, and during the season, I watched film from my games. No matter where I play, I will commit to the program and work hard to make a difference to my team as well as in the classroom. I pride myself in my hard work, as I am constantly working on my mental and physical game, both on and off the field. Currently, I am unsure about my career choice, but finding a good university is definitely something I look to do. I would prefer to attend a medium to small sized college, maybe 10,000 or less, but if the opportunities were presented to attend a larger college, I would do so. Any college/university that I would consider attending must be academically focused, as education is my primary reason for attending college. I would prefer to attend a school in the mid-Atlantic region, but if the opportunities were presented, I would strongly consider a school elsewhere. Again, I am a hard worker and team player who is willing to put in the time and effort for any program, as well as in the classroom.
