Personal Statement
My name is Christopher Cronican, and one of my life's greatest passions is baseball. A little bit about me; I start on our school's varsity baseball team as a left fielder, center fielder and a second baseman. Although, I love center field because you're basically the captain of the outfield and I have the advantage with my speed to cover the field very succesfully. I have a strong understanding of all aspects of the game, which allows me to react in any position without taking extra seconds to have to think about my next move; instinctively I already have a jump on the ball. Going back to my edge, I'm extremely fast and nimble with an amazing dive and desire to push the envelope for game changing situations. I've got a great arm, and consistently make accurate throws. I am counted on to be a key player for my legion baseball team, by making catches and getting the stick done as well. Keeping team morale high is a huge priority and personal effort of mine, and something I excel in. My perseverance, attitude and spirit still fight to the finish whether a win or loss is in store for the team. Between having a right mental game and working harder and longer for an exceptional physical game, I'm setting myself up for success in college. Part of being a well-rounded athlete includes staying in shape and being healthy! I'm constantly running from my house to the store every day to stay physically fit and maintain a healthy life. I have now added weight lifting to my training routine. During the off season, I have had the honor to be able to train with the Lewis-Clark State College coaches Alan Balmer and Justin Fuller. These two coaches are a huge influence on me and have taken me to the next level. Aside from sports, I'm passionate about people, love to hang out with friends and stay active. I enjoy volunteering my time to those in need, and keep my grades above honor roll levels so I can focus on my passion for sports. I'm not the typical student out there just trying to get by, but have a genuine desire to gain as much wisdom, understanding and knowledge. I'm an A student in Honors Science, and plan on taking more advanced course's throughout my senior year. If baseball doesn't roll out for me, I'd pursue a career in law. Even though my goals are set high for college, my aim is still to work as hard as humanly possible to get a scholarship for any D1 to NAIA school. However, I am open to any school, because my passion for playing rather than sitting on the bench is very high.
