Personal Statement
Coaches,
I am very excited and appreciative to have an opportunity like this to showcase my skills as a player and to increase my chances of being recruited. First off, I take my academics seriously. I have kept a 3.9 GPA or higher in my high school career. I am a year ahead in math classes and am currently taking 2 AP classes. I turn my assignments in on time, put strong effort in getting good test scores, and work hard on everything I do. My academic goal throughout high school is to keep a high GPA like I currently have.
Though school is important to me, more so is the way I present myself to others through my attitude. I hope to show Christ's love to others as I go through each day. I work hard at everything I do, whether it's a job, sports, or my strengthening my faith. I have sought out and held various jobs where long hours of strenuous work is required in order to earn money and learn new skills that can help me in everyday life. I also volunteer my time and abilities to help others on a regular basis. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes club is just one of those places where I give my time and effort. I help lead club, teach lessons and encourage fellowship one day a week, at 7 o'clock in the morning before school, for middle and high school aged kids. My personal goal is to continue my service for others in various areas of my life.
Lastly, and third on my list of priorities, is athletics. Besides baseball, I play tennis, where I lettered as third best player on Varsity as a Freshman and made it past sub-districts as a singles player in my sophomore season. It doesn't have to be organized sports though, I enjoy anything active from ping pong to paintball, you'll see me go all out. Playing sports is like nothing else to me, and baseball is no exception. While others might see a bunch of guys trying to hit a round ball with a bat, I see a challenge of focus, concentration, strategy, and ability. I am a utility player and work on every aspect of the game from the pitching to infield to outfield to hitting. To be a great ball player, you need a strong work ethic, a desire to improve every day, and a hint of talent, and I believe I possess all of these traits. My athletic goal is to never stop working hard at any sport I'm playing.
My love of the game of baseball is as great as anyone you'll ever meet. I'm the kind of guy that begs his coach to practice through the pouring rain. I'm the kind of guy that will lead his team through whatever stands before us. I'm the kind of guy that will work hard no matter what. But, most people just know me as that kid that eats, sleeps, and breaths baseball.
