Personal Statement
I have always had a passion for baseball. Trying out for my first tournament team at the age of 9. I am happy to say that I have had the privilege to play for the Yakima Valley Dirt Dawgs for 5 years. All I know is competing, working hard to earn my spot on the team and always giving a 100%. With these strong work ethics I currently have a 3.5 GPA and continue to strive for that 4.0. I know there is so much more to learn on and off the field.
As a freshman baseball player in high school you quickly learn you have to earn playing time. If you don’t give a 100% on and off the field you don’t play no matter how talented you are. I am happy to say I was able to play on the freshmen team and the JV for maximum playing time. This experience left me wanting more.
After school ball I made our local legion ball team. The Yakima Valley Peppers. As the youngest player on the team I was able to secure a starting spot as a DH. I feel competing at this level often times against kids coming from our local community colleges has helped me take my game to the next level. I plan on working hard this off season to earn a starting spot on the field.
My long-term goal is to play college baseball while majoring in medicine.
Please consider me for your program.
Thank you,
Dante Collett
