For the majority of my life, I have been striving to play baseball at the collegiate level, yet education is very important to me. I am from Eau Claire, Wisconsin and I graduate in 2015. Currently, I have 3.93 GPA with a rigorous schedule including AP classes. I stand 6’ 0” and I weigh 165 pounds. I'm a left-handed pitcher and outfielder with a lean, athletic build.
With pitching, I throw a fastball in the high 70s and low 80s. I use my curveball and slider combo as my out pitches. My curveball has a nice sweeping 12-6 motion, while my slider is usually in the mid 70s with a hard cut late in its travel. I also throw a sinking change to accompany my fastball and breaking pitches. I am comfortable with throwing all of these pitches at all times, maintaining proficient control of each. At this moment in my career, I am not fully content with my velocity so I have begun a new throwing program this off-season, and my goal is to be throwing in the low to mid 80s by the start of my junior season. I have impressive stride length and tremendous flexibility for my size. I take a great amount of pride in my pickoff move and have no trouble holding runners close. Last year, I posted the second lowest ERA on my high school team as a sophomore.
As far as hitting, I bat from the left side, and I typically lead off. I succeed in hitting for average and working the ball in the gaps. My primary skill is maintaining a high on-base percentage; I was second in on-base percentage last year as a sophomore on my high school team, and lead in walks and HBP’s. I am not afraid to drop a bunt down the third base line for a hit. In fact, I love the art of bunting. Once on base, I feel comfortable with my base running ability and stealing percentage, leading my high school team in runs last year. In the outfield, I typically play center, but I have experience in all three positions. I do a good job of covering ground in the outfield and have a strong arm to home.
I have played travel ball in Tennessee since I was nine years old. I have played in tournaments in venues such as the East Cobb Complex in Atlanta, GA and ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, FL. My freshman year I lettered at Oak Ridge High School, a Class AAA school just outside Knoxville. I made several relief appearances for the varsity team that year.
My sophomore year, my family moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I now attend Regis High School, where I play ball for Coach Andy Niese (Cell: (715) 523-0804). I am currently an officer for the student council, and I am a member of the National Honor Society, environmental club, math team, chess club, and academic challenge team. I also play varsity football. Leadership is something I take very seriously. My freshman year I attended the National Youth Leadership State Conference in Nashville, TN. The following summer I was invited to and attended the National Youth Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. I am currently a member of Youth in Government for the Eau Claire Delegation.
This past summer I played for Eau Claire American Legion Baseball team 17u. Our team went on to win the Wisconsin State Championship this year. I was 5-1 on the season and lead the team in saves, least amount of walks per innings pitched, and was second in ERA. I made one appearance in the state tournament. I threw a complete game 2-hitter with 9 strikeouts and one earned run.
