Personal Statement

I'm Brandon Bohl from Elk Mound, WI. I am currently a senior, Class of 2016, and am a 2 sport athlete (Baseball, and Basketball) at Elk Mound High School.

I've loved baseball ever since I was little. My Dad was a phenomenal pitcher at Bloomer High School. When I was growing up, I always looked up to him and kept saying to myself that one day I'll be able to throw as hard as he could and be as dominant of a pitcher like he was. He taught me fundamentals of pitching since I was little and always told me that since I was a lefty I would be a great pitcher because of the advantages I would have. So year after year I was the main pitcher for our team and I found it to be a lot of fun, more fun than any other position because you can control the game.

With all these years of hard-work up to high school and into high school I've earned awards that I'm very proud of:

Sophomore Year- 2014

1st Team All-Conference

Team and Conference Pitcher of the Year

Honorable Mention All-District - Pitcher- (Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association)

Honorable Mention All-Area Pitcher (Leader-Telegram)

Junior Year- 2015

1st Team All-Conference

2nd Team All-District - Pitcher (Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association)

Team and Conference Pitcher of the Year

2nd Team All-Area Pitcher (Leader Telegram)

Regional Champions

My goal after high school is to find a college that fits me best in both academics and athletics.

Every year our basketball program and our baseball program volunteers in various community service opportunities throughout the year. I enjoy helping younger children improve their skills in the sports that they love! After my freshman year of baseball I realized that our town had all sorts of camps but none that were about baseball. So the winter before my sophomore year I helped organize and coordinate a youth baseball camp in Elk Mound. That camp is now a yearly thing in March every year. We had a great increase in participation between the 1st time and the 2nd time. I've also helped out at various basketball skills camps that I myself once attended.

I enjoy working with the kids because they are always looking up to you and trying to copy you at stuff that you're good at. When I was little we would play football at lunch and say we were a certain varsity player and try to be just like them. Now that I am older I see that kids still look up to the older athletes and enjoy watching them. Many of them come to watch us play basketball and baseball and if they see us around school or in public they will come up and say hi and want a high five. It is a happy feeling when that sort of things happen.

As I approach the next step in my life, I can see my days at my high school getting minimal. I've learned lots of things at school and at sports that will help me throughout college and throughout life. Working hard, never giving up, having fun in what you do, and setting goals and completing them are some of the many lessons that I have learned throughout my younger years.

Best Regards,

Brandon Bohl
