My name is Adam Mitchell, and I started loving the game of baseball at a very young age. After playing t-ball and coach pitch, the game became a passion of mine when I started playing more advanced baseball. I have always loved being a catcher because I can be involved in every play. When I catch, I feel that I have a leadership role, like the captain of a team. I know that my team mates need that extra boost from me to feel encouraged and always give their best. I enjoy being in that role because I know I am the best person for that job, and I have the confidence to handle anything that comes my way.
My academic goal in high school is to have a 3.5 or higher GPA every semester. For extra-curricular activities, I am very involved with music. I play the trumpet in the concert, marching, and pep bands. I also play the bass in the string orchestra, in addition to singing with the men’s choir. I love learning new instruments and playing all kinds of music. Being a part of a musical ensemble is a lot like being a part of a baseball team. Everyone has a role, and when we all work together we create an excellent final product.
As for college goals, I have always had a dream to play college baseball. Every season, I work hard to improve my skills to make that dream a reality. Playing baseball on my high school team will be not only fun, but also rewarding and motivational as I get closer to my college baseball dream. My other college goal is to graduate with a degree in a field where I can use my leadership skills and still be involved with sports. I would love to be a teacher and a coach so that I can share my knowledge and enthusiasm with others. That is why I plan to pursue a degree in Education, where I will focus on Music Education (Instrumental).
Playing baseball has taught me a lot about life. I’ve learned to have composure even when the odds are stacked against me. I’ve also learned that having the right mentality means that I will always play to the best of my ability and leave my heart on the field. I want to always be able to leave the field knowing that I’ve given my full 100% to my team. When my teammates think of me, I hope that they think about me as the guy who always kept his chin up and helped boost the team’s energy every game.
