Personal Statement
Since I have been a young boy I have dreamt of playing college baseball. My goal is to find a college baseball experience that meets my desires academically to realize my dream of becoming a physician.
I am currently a junior at the University School of Milwaukee. University School is the most academically challenging college preparatory school in Wisconsin. When I first entered high school I struggled my freshman year. I had a hard time earning a 3.0 gpa during my freshman year. I learned through finding help, and working hard I earned over 3.5 gpa's in both semesters of my sophomore year and raised my cumulative gpa to 3.3. I am not done. I will continue to work hard to raise my grades to reach my dreams.
In high school I play baseball and football. My freshman year in football I mainly played special teams. My highlights of that season were definitely the two touchdown passes as well as two two point conversion receptions I caught from my brother Tommy who was the place kicker and quarterback of our team. We won the conference and those memories I will never forget. Tommy is currently playing baseball at Bucknell University. My sophomore year I started at middle linebacker and continued to be long snapper. We didn't do as well as a team, however, we are young as we only had three seniors on our team. My Junior year I played middle linebacker and three back. I was selected honorable mention all conference as a linebacker. I have been voted Captain for next years team.
In baseball, my freshman year we went 25-3. I started seven games at catcher and hit .375. This year we went 11-12 as again we were really young. I played catcher and led the state in runners thrown out with seven. I had a really tough start at the plate with everything I hit going at someone. I started the season 0 for 15 but then was able to work my way out of that dismal start finishing the season with a .300 batting average. For the season I was voted by my teammates as the Most Improved Player and I was elected Honorable Mention All- Conference as catcher. So far in my junior year I have been playing fairly well. I have been hitting third in the lineup the entire season. I am currently hitting .400 with 24 hits. I have 17 singles and 7 doubles. I also have 12 RBIs. Catching wise I have also been playing fairly well. I have a fielding percentage of .982, with 1 passed ball all season. I have also thrown 5 guys out.
I would love to have the opportunity to play for your baseball team and represent your university. I have watched my brother and the fun he's having and the bonds he's made and I definitely want baseball to be a part of my college experience.
