My name is Cannon Cooley and I want to be the best I can be. Whether that is on the field, in the classroom, or with my family I realize it is important to reach my potential. It has always been a dream of mine to play a collegiate sport at a high-level, especially baseball. Being 5'9'' football and basketball are sports I play in high school for the love of the competition and for the cross-training it provides, but my true love is baseball. I am well-rounded, choosing when to lead by example and when to lead verbally, which is proven through my team captain label in all three sports, 2 of them (baseball and basketball) as a sophomore on varsity. I've been a part of winning teams and losing teams, and realize that staying mentally strong and prepared is a big deal. My high school football team hasn't won more than 3 games in the past 15 seasons, and this year we proved everybody wrong starting the season 4-0. I quarterbacked and captained the team as a junior this year and from that experience can confidently say I can help turn a program around. I have been on varsity for baseball since freshmen year, where I earned Second-Team All Conference honors as a freshmen, and First-Team All Conference as a sophomore, in the most athletic conference in the state. My goals for this upcoming season include getting a high-seed for the playoffs, batting over .450, more than 10 doubles, ERA under 2.0, no more than 5 errors at SS, and First-Team All State. I understand to achieve these goals I need to outwork everybody, which I am doing through cross-training with other sports, weight training, one-on-one baseball training with a previous D1 player, and team workouts. Currently I weight 165 lbs and plan to gain while improving my quickness and speed. I also excel in the classroom and understand that I am a student first, athlete second. With a current GPA of 4.23 (due to weighted AP classes), I am in the top 3 percent of my junior class, and plan to only improve from there! I will be taking the ACT in February and a second time in June. I am open to all divisions and levels and would love to talk anytime! Thanks for taking time to view my profile!
