Personal Statement
My name is Anthony (Tony) Butler. I am a 6'0", 170 pound shortstop and I am currently a junior at Sun Prairie High School in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin (just outside of Madison). I started on the Varsity Baseball Team my freshman year and earned a Unanimous First Team All-Conference selection and a All-District Honorable Mention. I have a 3.78 GPA and work hard in the classroom. On my U18 summer baseball team I was selected as a captain and the leader of the team. I am a person that works my hardest to be successful and win and I make sure my teammates are working to the best of their ability as well. I am looking for a college where I can earn a degree in the business management field. I would love to travel out of state and south for any school. I believe I could help any team at any level right away because of my dedication to the game and my work ethic. I will look forward to communicating with any schools that contact me.
In the spring of 2011 I broke my hamate bone in my left hand before my high school tryouts. The injury was mis-diagnosed for 6 weeks until I saw an specialist who told me I needed sugery. I made the decision to postpone the surgery until after my high school season as I thought we had a very good chance of winning a state title. So I played with the injury all season and batted occasionally because the pain was severe. I still earned all 1st team all conference honors. I had the sugery at the end of June and just started my rehab at the end of August. I am back playing with RJ Fergus from Hitters Racine this fall of 2011.
