Personal Statement
Ever since I was a little kid, I loved playing sports. I played several sports over the years, but the one that captured my attention the most is baseball. My passion for the sport grew and I realized that I have natural ability, especially as a pitcher. When I get up on the mound, I feel confident and in command of the game. I get an amazing rush every time I step up on the mound or strike a batter out on a curveball, but I also show strength when things don’t go well. I excel in high-pressure situations during a game and my confidence unites my teammates. Through pitching, I have gained leadership skills, a quality that I carry over to school and with my peers. I have worked hard to successfully develop my 4-seam, 2-seam, curve ball, slider, and changeup, and I continue to work off the field, further developing pitches. I know that being an effective pitcher requires a lot of time off the field to work on improving and developing new skills.
I am fortunate to attend a high school that is competitive in baseball and also offers an excellent education. Waterford High School has great teachers with a wide variety in curriculum. I have taken advantage of the opportunity to enroll in challenging classes through the Honors and AP programs as well as explore my interest in history. My cumulative GPA of 3.6 shows my commitment to school and to my future education. My goal is to study Video Game Design in college and I believe that my background in baseball and my love of history will be assets in my career.
When I am not studying or playing baseball, I spend some of my time with friends. I am also involved with my church where I volunteer as an usher. I like to play video games and spend time outside hunting, fishing, and playing golf. I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me both academically and athletically. I have the work ethic, leadership skills, and talent to compete for a college team and the character and academic strength to be a good representative for your school.
