Hello my name is Ian Butenhoff, this fall I will be a sophomore at Wauwatosa West High School in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. In my freshman year, I played for the JV2 team and I started every game at shortstop. If I wasn't playing at shortstop, I was also a starting pitcher for the team. I was top 3 in the batting order for the entire season. I also am currently playing for a club team, where I am an every game starter and bounce around from playing shortstop and also third base. I also do pitch for this team, and I have solidified myself as one of the top pitchers on the team. For this team I have batted second in the order for the entire season, and I am top three in batting average and on base percentage. I have been playing baseball since I was four years old when tee ball started. Ever since, I have found a love for the sport and everything about it. I am always about having fun and positivity when it comes to baseball; whether it's encouraging teammates to do their best, keep trying and stay happy. I try to make sure that my teammates are having as much fun as I am. I go to the gym with my older brother 5 times a week, working out legs, core and upper body, with one of the days being an agility day where he helps me get more explosive and agile. I work with a pitching coach (Tyler Jones) and a hitting coach (Steve Sanflippo) to work on my game and keep myself in top performance shape. As I am going into my sophomore year I am still undecided as to what academic area I wish to focus on in college. I am looking to connect with a college/university that will allow me to further and improve my love of baseball and also provide me a solid educational foundation, for whatever I choose to continue to learn about. Coaches tell me that I am very coachable and a great person to be around because of my positive attitude and always keeping everyone in a happy mood whether we are winning or losing. Respectfully submitted by Ian Butenhoff.
