Personal Statement

I am a multi-sport athlete; playing soccer, basketball, track, and baseball.  While I still participate in other sports, Baseball has become my passion sport.  The one I work on year round even while other sport seasons are in session.   Sport are such an important part of my life.  There are the skills that of course you learn such as work-ethic, teamwork, dedication, communication, and that die hard never give up attitude! Sports are so much more than just skills to me!  Sports helped me recover from an accident I had at 8 years old.   I lost movement in my right leg after my muscle was cut in half the entire length of my calve.  I had rehab to learn how to walk again, going from a wheelchair, to crutches, to a prosthetic brace that I broke constantly while I was out practicing soccer so I could get the movement in my foot back.  A year later I had worked hard and made the All-star team in Baseball, finding myself at Rockies stadium at the one year anniversary of the accident.  The next year I continued to work hard, did extra training sessions, and made the State 307 soccer team.  I decided at that point that; only you can hold yourself back.  So I push myself!  I took a page from Michael Jordan's career and I chose the one thing I need to get better at the most and I practice and I practice.  I ask my coaches, other players and my fans for feedback and I keep practicing.

As I think about my future and my goals I know several things, I love animals, sports, hunting, and outdoors.  This has lead me to my perspective career in Animal Biology.  A career that I believe I can be very successful in.  Our family operates a therapeutic ranch and I spend many hours a week working on this ranch.  I have birthed animals, provided first aid response, herded, trained, rode, fenced, cleaned, feed, watered, and buried my fair share of animals.  In the heat of the sun and in the -20 degree weather.  I am out there taking care of the animals, ranch and the business needs.  I am a person that knows what needs to be done,  at home, school, work, sports it does not matter.  I maintain mostly A's and some B's in fact most academics come fairly easy to me.  I have a baseball weight lift program that I work at 2 times a day 5 to 6 time a week.   I also practice my skill that I choose to work on 3 to 4 times a week.  One of my most received complements from my coaches is how hard I work and how coachable I am.  My goal is to play college baseball and because I am the only one that can hold me back, I set my goals, I practice, I work hard and I keep that goal in my sights at all times.
