Personal Statement

My name is  Gehrig Diemoz I am from a very small town in Southwest Wyoming, Rock Springs.  

 I am a 6'4 190lb RHP that is currently playing for the College of the Redwoods in Eureka California. I have been an infielder all my life but when I made it to JUCO both of my head coaches (Chris Brown SDCC) and Brad Morgan (College Of the Redwoods) decided that my arm needed to be on the mound and have tried their hardest to turn me into a pitcher. I have been told that I have a live arm, My fastball last season topped out at 88 in a night game against Los Medanos, but my fastball sits consistently from 82-85. I also throw a slider, curveball, and a split-finger as my changeup. I have been nose to the grindstone since last season because my coaches had looked at me as a "growing pitcher" or as an experiment, and that has motivated me to work hard this year and hopefully be a starter in the rotation this year. I have nothing but high hopes as the decision on the 2021 season approaches. I have been knocked down by the game of baseball many times and I chose to keep getting back up because this is where my heart resides. I aspire to be a great player, and an even better teammate. My goal in junior college is to make it to a division 1 four year school and I believe it is well within reach with dedication and a lot of hard work.  

I have a very intense work ethic and thoroughly enjoy challenging myself to always improve.  I am a very charismatic person, and an excellent teammate both on and off the field.  I am a positive person, with outstanding character,  having the best attitude through all situations is essential to success because attitude is everything.  I have dreamt to be a professional baseball player as early as I can remember, and it would be nothing short of a dream for me to take the next step in getting there, at a good college, not just in athletics, but in education as well.

  • Offensively Gehrig has a long swing with good pop when contact is made. Above average exit velocity. Defensively Gehrig has good hands and arm strength. With some small adjustments at the plate he could be a serious impact bat.

  • 01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Gehrig once again showed all the intangibles necessary for a passionate ball player to improve and take his game to the next level. Defensively at 3B, he took good angles to the baseball and made plays with sure hands. He got to his fielding position on-time and threw with carry utilizing the proper footwork. Offensively, he showed good rhythm to hit and got his hands activated to launch. He showed good balance throughout the swing and generated solid bat speed with his hand & hip coordination. On the hill, he threw a FB with loose arm action and good front side extension to challenge hitters. His arm worked fairly well for him and with continued focus and development of a secondary pitch will boost his effectiveness. In all - Gehrig is a hard worker that makes adjustments to better his game and has the frame to continue improving.

  • 11/06/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Gehrig is a hard worker who shows his enjoyment for the game. His skills have progressed thanks to his coachable demeanor. Offensively, this RHH shows a patient approach as he waits for his pitch. Barrel delivery is level to and through the zone. He connects and utilizes the entire field. Working to create more extension through contact will help to increase power. At the hot corner, he is aggressive and comes to get the ground ball. Clean actions and good footwork allow him to make the plays and work in-line across the diamond. On the mound, FB now tops out at 70 mph as he works both sides of the plate. He gets good glove tuck and maintains level shoulders throughout his delivery. Driving his lower 1/2 off the rubber and working to extend more on his follow through will improve pitch effectiveness. Diemoz is only a 2018 grad and will only continue to improve.

  • 07/31/2014 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown Gehrig is an athletic two way player, who shows upside as a 3B as well as on the mound. Defensively Gehrig displays good footwork and hands as he works through the baseball. He needs to keep his weight on the balls of his feet during pre-pitch, he tends to get some weight on his heels, slowing down his first step. On the mound Gehrig shows a ton of upside, he is just very raw right now. He needs to continue working on developing a consistent delivery, and developing a secondary pitch. At the plate he shows the ability to use his whole body during the swing. He needs to control his body during the swing however, right now he tends to over rotate which is causing the front side to pull off the baseball.

  • Gehrig is a tall, raw athlete with a projectable frame. He shows off some real raw power with the ability to put a charge into the ball, hitting missiles in BP. He shows good rhythm in the box, loading to a power position and whipping the bat through the zone with fast bat speed. He is a line drive hitter and makes consistent, hard contact to all fields. In the field, Gehrig shows good range at 3B. He has a short arm action and throws with accuracy as he keep throws on line across the diamond. On the bump, this prospect features a fastball, curveball mix from an over the top delivery and isn�t afraid to work inside to hitters. He gets to a good balance point and separates on time, generating soft contact from most hitters. Working on staying in line to the plate will loosen his arm and add velocity and movement to his pitches. We look forward to watching Gehrig continue to improve.
