OSU vs. Michigan, Lessons learned in leveraging recruiting opportunities.

Recently I came across this article on ESPN’s website. It does a great job of displaying just how much schools compete over the same set of prospects. As a recruit, if you understand that there is open competition for your talents it will allow you to leverage your present opportunities to create new ones.  Having the power to leverage your current opportunities for additional ones is a key aspect to the recruiting process.  Remember, as a recruit you have the power to use on the field rivalries to your advantage.  This is truly a powerful piece of knowledge.

I encourage every recruit out there to research each school you are working with thoroughly, find out who their biggest rival is and contact them to find out what their recruiting needs are for their recruiting class.  Having two schools compete over you is great, having two bitter rivals compete over you is even better. In the end it will allow you to gain more scholarship dollars and eventually provide you with the best opportunities to extend your athletic and academic future.
