Taking Recruiting Up a Notch

September 9th, 2008 - by Brian Davidson

The Recruiting Battle in L.A. is absolutely raging in full force.  For the common fan a quick re-cap:

1) USC hires former NFL bust Pete Carrol who uses every trick in the book including his blog and various other motivational tricks to own West Coast Recruiting.  Rose Bowls, National Championships and not to mention domination of cross-town rival UCLA follows.

2) Tired of 60-3 scores UCLA answers back with the hiring of former UCLA QB, Rick Neuhesial.  Rick makes an immediate splash with his infamous “Point of Death” ad in the L.A. Times.

3) Unsatisfied with merely pointing toward victory, Rick takes to the air actually flying across L.A. this past Friday to check some of his recruits in action.

Personally, I can’t wait to see what these two pull out of their hats next.  Recruits need to take the same attitude these coaches display and aggressively attack recruiting in the most creative ways possible.  The recruiting process changes every day.  Both of these coaches are living proof.  That is exactly why families turn to NCSA to make sure they are always on the cutting edge.
