My son is a junior, and his coach has already sent a tape to UT and some other places. Right now they are looking at him, so i think the earlier you send them the better it is.

You should get film to a staff as soon as it is ready. Seniors should get tape to schoools after a few games. Juniors have a little more time, but shouldn't wait. Getting ahead of the game is key!

What about giving film to a coaching staff? When is the proper timing for that?

You should be prepared to answer any question from a coach. That being said obviously making the visit indicates it is a top school of interest.

Great article!
I have given my son the same advice, I have him to call the coaches and either congradulate them on thier win or wish them luck on the week they are playing. These of course are coaches who shown interest and we've taken a visit. I look foreward to next weeks information about the question and answer section. Say, on visit this weekend I coach ask my son, If he really had any interest in his University, is that a normal question to ask someone who you know has taken a 4 hour trip to visit ?

A hair cut may affect some coaches, but realistically most coaches aren't so superficial. They care more about what counts. Grades count! Play on the field counts! I hope your son concentrates and lives up to his potential!

Hello,
Actually my son is a senior, and plays football in Corona, CA. He hasn't received the best grades & has been hurt a lot through his junior year. (and spring ball) He currently has long hair, will his physical appearance effect his possiblities for his peers to take him seriously. He must work very hard these next months, and has to prove alot, first bring his self confidence level up and gain his coaches trust.. Should his hair effect him... His grades aren't the best either... He has a lot of potential, although has let a lot of minor issue affect his focus on his main goal to succeed.
Thank you,
Mari

Coach I really liked what you said and how you put it into good words. My name is Xavier Higgins, I attend school at LaFayette High in Alabama. I have always tried to be the best that I can be. I am an Senior now and I am trying to get a good scholarship for basketball. Don't get me wrong I'm doin great in school maintaining to be an honor student, but basketball is where my heart at. It's going to be hard for me to get a scholarship for that because of the small school I am attending. I am trying so hard to acheive my goals. Can you give me any advice?
