Quick Bit of Advice for Recruits

If you are looking to impress a college coach with your team attitude, don’t say anything like this:

“I’m disappointed. It stinks.  You don’t ever expect to win the starting job and then lose it because the guys around you aren’t performing the way they should. It’s disappointing, but at the same time, it’s best for the team. I’m a team player, and that’s just the way it has to be.”

Those were the words this week from Kentucky Quarterback Mike Hartline after learning he had been benched.  If a college coach heard a recruit bad mouth his teammates in this fashion  chances are his shot to play college sports and have the potential to earn an athletic scholarship would vanish instantly.
