After my daughter accepted a volleyball scholarship, she contacted all other coaches to let them know of her commitment. Seven months later, the coach was fired and we found out the school was in financial trouble. She then got back in contact with a previous coach who had expressed great interest her. Once again, the coach was thrilled to hear back from her and she has now accepted their offer. I believe that because of her being courteous and respectful to all the coaches, things ended up working out great!

Good communication and respect are life lessons. You owe it to all of those that have taken their time to show interest in you and your college career simply thank them for their time and inform them of your decision. It is a simple courtesy and it shows some class.
