How do I Decide Which Club Team to Play For?

Great question! For athletes who compete in sports that have a significant club component (soccer, softball, volleyball, etc), the decision on which team to play for can cause quite the predicament. You have to find a good balance between joining a competitive team and getting playing time. The bottom line is that if you’re not playing at all, you’re not getting any better…so you HAVE to receive playing time. Also, if you’re not actively playing and competing during a game, coaches will be unable to evaluate your ability. The goal should be to find the best possible team that will also give you ample time on the field or court.
Our advice? Make playing time your priority so you can improve and potentially move up to a more high profile team or at least allow coaches to watch you play in the interim.
