Some coaches might pressure an athlete to apply early, a process called “ Early Decision Enrollment.” Student-athletes should avoid Early Decision to a college unless they are 100% sure they want to attend the college. Athletes accepted as Early Decision students sign binding contracts that close doors for other opportunities. At a minimum, students who accept an Early Decision lower their negotiating potential.
