The trickiest place for a student-athlete to be is that gray middle ground with enough talent to earn some interest from schools but not enough to be pursued heavily. Most of these athletes lose out on potential scholarship money because they are unrealistic about their ability in the athletic world, and they believe they are being more heavily recruited than they really are. Often, these athletes miss out on opportunities from Division II, III, and NAIA programs because they are certain they will be playing Division I athletics. Trouble is, by the time many realize that a Division I scholarship is not coming, they are also too late for a Division II or III school.
