Why Do I Play?

Why do I play?

By Student Athlete Blogger Gunnar Solberg

I play for the ups

I play for the downs

I play for the sound of skates cutting ice

I play for comebacks

I play for wins

I play for face-offs

I play for goals

I play for assists

I play for saves

I play for blocking shots

I play for hits

I play for putting my body on the line

I play through pain

I play for overtime

I play for living on the road

I play through loss

I play through let-downs

I play for redemption

I play for long hours of practice

I play for bag skates

I play for late nights

I play for early mornings

I play for broken bones

I play for bruised muscles

I play for sweat

I play with passion

I play for the rush

I play for the adrenaline

I play for miracles

I play for locker room bonding

I play to be a part of something greater

I play for my coaches

I play for my teammates

I play for my family

Most of all I play because nothing makes me happier
