It is all about your attitude.
No one says it better than high school football player Apollos Hester after his East View HS team nipped Vandegrift by a point this season. I was in TV News as a sports anchor for almost 25 years and I have NEVER seen anything like this, as far as energy, heart and faith. Check out this young man after he was interviewed after the thrilling game.
After watching Apollos, take some time to reflect on where you attitude is and where it is going. Apollos has an energy that you can almost touch. College coaches recruit on many things, but attitude is a big one. A guy like him makes everyone around him feel better. He is solution centered. He never gives up.
College coaches win with talent, but with talent that is always about team. It’s one thing to have a big ego, but another to have an ego problem. It is good to be confident, but cocky wears thin. The bottom line is to have the kind of attitude to where people want to be around you. With that kind of attitude, Ap0llos will go far in life. Think about that attitude in the work place. Employees will want to be around him. Customers will want to do business with him. Managers will want to promote him. This is all about developing in sports to be athleaders in life and serve others down the road.
Motivational speaker Charlie Adams was a sports anchor for 23 years in markets such as New Orleans and South Bend where he saw many families struggle with the recruiting process because of a lack of education on the subject. His son was a college athlete, his oldest daughter is a freshman college swimmer, and his youngest daughter is very involved in AAU travel team basketball as a 6th grader. Charlie’s new motivational program in 2014 is ‘More Than a Miracle,’ which explains how the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team was able to stun the Soviets and then take the Gold.
