We recently shared the top quotes of Derek Jeter’s career (my favorite is still number three). Imagine how excited we were, then, to see all of the buzz about his new sports website, The Players’ Tribune. More Jeter quotes!

We’re going to be reading everything that comes out of the Tribune. No, really. We’ve already bookmarked it. And since you’re all passionate athletes and sports junkies just like us, we knew you’d want to check it out too.

Jeter says — this is in an introductory letter to the site — that he has been too guarded, and that he wants to connect with his fans:

I do think fans deserve more than “no comments” or “I don’t knows.” Those simple answers have always stemmed from a genuine concern that any statement, any opinion or detail, might be distorted. […] So I’m in the process of building a place where athletes have the tools they need to share what they really think and feel. We want to have a way to connect directly with our fans, with no filter. [Our emphasis.]

That thumping you’re hearing? That’s us bouncing in our seats.

It’s only been a couple of days, but there’s already another article–by none other than the Seahawks’ quarterback, Russell Wilson:

…I was a bully growing up. In elementary and middle school, I threw kids against the wall. I rubbed their heads in the dirt at recess. I bit them. I even knocked teeth out.

Check it out, if you have the time. We’ll be sure to let you know when we see any spectacular articles. In the meantime, let us know: What professional athlete do you want to hear from in The Players’ Tribune?
