Hi, my name is Cam Cross and I look forward to speaking to coaches about opportunities to cheer in college. I have had the opportunity to try a variety of sports throughout my life, including soccer, gymnastics and swimming, but in 2019 I made the decision to try out for All-Star cheer and, in doing so, have found the sport where I belong. Although I have only been cheering for three years, I have been completely dedicated to developing my skills, flexibility and tumbling. In addition to cheer, I am an excellent student (3.9 GPA and a member of NJHS), as well as an active volunteer with my church and with Friends of Kids with Cancer, a non-profit organization that helps kids with cancer and their families through every stage of their journey. After high school, my goal is to attend a four-year university and major in Behavioral Sciences or Behavioral Psychology and ultimately pursue a career in law enforcement in their criminal assessment units. I am a driven and enthusiastic individual who gives 110% for all my pursuits. Whether it be for learning a new skill or acing a science test, I am putting forth the effort and putting in the work to achieve my goals. When I am not in the gym or studying, I enjoy hanging out with my friends, traveling, reading and listening to music.
I am currently in my 3rd season of All-Star cheer with Platinum Athletics in St. Louis, Missouri, where I compete with Steel, our Junior 3 Small team. We will compete at Summit in 2022 after earning a partial-paid bid this season. In 2019-2020, I competed with Shine, our Senior 1 Small team, and earned a bid to Summit, which unfortunately was cancelled due to COVID. In 2020-21, Shine converted to a Junior 1 Medium team, and I competed with the team, where we earned a bid to Summit and successfully earned a Finalist opportunity, where we ultimately placed 11th.
I have experience as a flyer (with level 1, 2 and 3 skills, including extended single-leg stunts) and as a base (both main and secondary for single-leg prep level stunts and show & gos). I have co-ed stunting experience as well, including walk-in and toss-to-hands prep, extension and single-leg stunts. I am a strong tumbler with all skills through Level 4 and emerging Level 5 (please see skill list below).

Thank you for the opportunity to share my personal statement and I look forward to speaking with you!
