Throughout my life I have tried and participated in multiple different sports, however none of them have felt as right as cheer does. I tried many things from dance, to soccer, to figure skating, and finally settled on cheer. As I got into cheer and found my love for it I realized that it is something I want to do in college as well. This is my first season on an All-Star competitive cheer team, and I’ve never been happier. I am on an elite level 4 team and specialize in tumbling and main basing. I have some experience as a side base however, the strong suit is definitely as a main base. I currently have my level 4 tumbling and am working towards my level 5 skills.
I originally started as a competitive dancer, and I did this for 14 years. I learned most of my tumbling on dead floor before I transferred it over to spring. In dance, I specialized in Hip Hop and Ballet but, I have done almost every style you can think of. I am currently studying at Las Vegas Academy of the Arts as a dance major, with emphasis on modern dance as well as ballet.
Academically, I strive to be the best I possibly can while balancing everything else in my life. I fill my schedule with mainly AP and Dual-Enrollment courses in classes I am interested in. My favorite subject is science, but more specifically Biology. I plan to start college as a general biology major while I decide what aspect of it I am most interested in. I am currently thinking about going into Biomed or Sports Medicine and Physiology. But I also like the idea of having a minor in something like nutrition or food sciences. I am currently 45th in my class of 403 and am aiming to keep moving up.
Along with school and extracurriculars, I volunteer as a youth leader at my church along with being a certified lifeguard. In doing all of these activities, I have learned so much about life and about myself. As a youth leader, I work to encourage kids and teens to follow their faith as well as support them in any ways they may need. I teach teenagers about their faith and show them the paths they can take in life as well as help them get there. I am incredibly hard working and determined. With my jobs and volunteer work I have learned how to take directions and work as a team with those around me. I have learned how to take corrections and criticism as well as build up those around me.
I want to attend a college where I can push myself academically as well as athletically. Wherever I end up I hope to help inspire those around me as well as strengthen the confidence and morale of my team. I am open to a lot of options for college and I can’t wait to find the right fit where I can exceed and hopefully become a role model and make my parents and family proud.
