Personal Statement
Reluctantly, I picked up a Field Hockey stick at age ten. My elementary school requires that fifth graders play team sports and my friend convinced me to try Field Hockey. I was a left-handed, skinny child, weighing 65 lbs, but since then I haven't been able to put my stick down. I have played Field Hockey for seven years, and played on my middle school's highly-successful Varsity team in both seventh and eighth grade.
I have been a member of the Varsity Field Hockey team at Suffield since my Freshman year. I have started all three years, and have contributed greatly to rebuilding of our Field Hockey program. I have lead our team to a new record each year - every year is better than the last. Despite being heavily recruited by our school's basketball coach, I chose to participate in Suffield's Varsity Player strength and conditioning program which meets 6 days per week, two hours per day. Also, during winter semester, I play for HTC Field Hockey Club at the Middletown, CT site on Saturday evenings. I am passionate about being the absolute best athlete, the best Field Hockey player, I can be.
During the summer, in addition to Field Hockey camps, I work with a trainer on agility, balance, endurance and speed.
I have been described by coaches as hard-working, easy to coach, passionate, and incredibly fast. I am very dedicated to my teammates and my coaches and will work my hardest to support them.
Off of the field, I am an admissions tour guide and a proctor in the dorms. My time in the classroom, and involvement within my community at school is very important to me. I make an effort to do my very best in the classroom, I exhibit this by going to extra help and seeking guidance from my teachers. I am an Honor Roll student taking Honors-level courses who would like to go to a school that is challenging in the classroom, with a solid, competitive Field Hockey program.
