Personal Statement
My name is Corinna Dorr, and I am a Junior at Taft school. This is my third year on the Varsity Field Hockey Team, and I have been a starter for the past two years.
To my excitement, I was just named Co-Captain for the 2018-2019 season, and I was awarded the Founders League All League Award. “The Founders All League Award is given in recognition of that student-athlete who best exemplifies the League’s ideals of sportsmanship, hard work and character in the spirit of competition and fair play at the varsity level.”
I play left back, but if needed I can play midfield and defend either side. My strengths are block tackling, and jabs on my non-stick side, communication, and angling my opponent toward the sidelines away from the middle of the field. I also am the flier for my team at Taft. My favorite classes are Chemistry and History, and I am interested in Psychology.
Coaches Ryan and Bracco said this about me, "Corinna's skills (to name a few) are her vision, aggression, and general athleticism. She has no fear and has great eye hand coordination and often disrupted the striker's shot. Watching Corinna play, it is obvious she's played several sports as she sees the field and has incredible game sense, as well. This is a huge asset as a backfielder as she distributes the ball to serve as a catalyst to the attack; she is not simply defending her team's goal. We were rarely scored upon off of a corner due to Corinna’s skills. She is also incredibly coachable and can play anywhere on the field. Corinna has a wonderful personality and she makes an excellent teammate."
