Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Grace Parker and I’m in the graduating class of 2018. I’ve been playing field hockey since the 5th grade. My interest in field hockey began in a summer camp during my 5th grade year after which I was asked to try out for USA Futures. As a 9 year old at USA Futures practices, I was by far the youngest there – and a bit intimidated by the older girls. Once I realized I could play against the older girls I really started to love the game and have forged some of my best friendships through playing field hockey. I am looking to continue playing field hockey at the collegiate level.
I am so fortunate to live near Granby CT and be a part of their clinics / camps. Sandy Wickman-Mason (Granby HS Coach) asked me to play forward on their U15 and U18 Team as a 12 year old. I also started playing in the Granby High School Indoor FH winter league during my 7th grade year. I have been to 4 USA Futures Regional Tournaments, invited to the College Connection "Prep" as an 8th grader also attended as a 9th & 10th grader, 3 Connecticut State Nutmeg Games U15 / U18, Providence College Tournament with U18 Mystic FH Club as a 7th grader and 2015 U16 Orlando Showcase with HTC FH Club.
I am interested in a competitive program looking for student-athletes who are dedicated to excelling in the classroom and on the field. As I continue my field hockey journey through high school and college, someday I hope to inspire others young girls into the world of field hockey as a coach.
