Personal Statement
Bo Jackson once said, “Set your goals high, and don’t stop until you get there.” Ever since I started playing field hockey I knew I wanted to play in college where I could challenge myself both academically and athletically. Field hockey is my greatest passion. As a 10 year old when I picked up my first stick, I immediately fell in love with the sport and just wanted to keep getting better. When I was little I would always be in my backyard shooting the balls against our wooden fence. To this day, nothing has changed my passion for field hockey and my work ethic, except that I am not allowed to hit against the backyard fence anymore!
Although field hockey is my greatest athletic passion, academics and being a good student is extremely important to me. My strong work ethic in school has also helped me on the field as I played varsity as a freshman. I work very hard to achieve the grades I earn and I am always trying to learn more. I achieved honor roll status every trimester in middle school, and now in high school I am taking all honors courses.
Besides playing field hockey I have also run track for the past 4 years. I am running varsity indoor track and I plan to run outdoor track this spring. I enjoy running and it helps my field hockey game. I run the mile, 1000 meter, 800 meter and 400 meter races. The past three years I have qualified for the Massachusetts Middle School State Track Championship Meet where I ran on the 400 and 800 meter relay teams.
