Personal Statement

Hello coaches! My name is Jordan Drouin. I’m a defensive player and have been playing since I was 5. At that time, I played for a small league in Freeport, Maine, for kids my age, while playing a forward position. I found my passion as a defensive player when I joined the club MAINE STYX at age 8. Recently, as a sophomore, I have made the switch over to the club Costal. Since then I have maintained my position and role for my team as part of the last line of defense. I am truly grateful for Coastal's coaching and staff, because of how much my confidence and gameplay have improved from the time spent with them.

This past Fall, 2023, I was given the opportunity to be a starter for my high school team, Cheverus. As pre-season started up the past fall, my love for the game had grown even more. The amount of competition and commitment that would be necessary to obtain a varsity position gave me the confidence to work harder to maintain that title. After successfully meeting that goal, I set my sights even higher for myself. With the high expectations that seem to be impossible to grasp at this point in my journey, I continue to keep myself humble. Knowing that there are always ways to improve while learning from my mistakes, helps me show up as my best self no matter how difficult a situation might beIn time, our hard work as a team paid off as we solidified our title as Class A state champions.

An important factor for my mindset when I’m a part of a team or family is looking for where I can personally grow while giving my best for my team. I have learned that when you’re on a team, everyone communicates, thinks, and reacts differently than you might in situations. Having an open mind to changes and new possibilities is one of the best ways to be successful with your peers. My goals as a field hockey player are like my goals in life. Stay who you are, and be the best that you know you can be while continuing to be open to growth in the process. I’m eager to learn more in the future on how to be my best self while adapting to new challenges that may come up.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
