Personal Statement
Throughout my seven years of playing field hockey, not only have I learned extensive stick skills, field positioning, and sportsmanship, but have developed a true passion for the sport. Over the years, this has contributed to my advanced sense of field awareness and position. If I were to describe myself in one word it would be dedicated. One of the mottos that I live by is “finish what you start”; whether it’s sprinting hard through the end of a fitness test, staying after practice to perfect a new skill, or playing my hardest until the final buzzer. As a defensive minded player, I bring a good sense of leadership to the field as I am a vocal player and strong communicator. I use these skills to encourage my teammates and to make others aware of open teammates or an unmarked opponent. Additionally, I am a very coachable player. I take every piece of advice my coaches give me to heart, and make adjustments accordingly in my play.
As a student-athlete, I enjoy being surrounded by people who challenge me athletically and academically. I have high aspirations for myself on and off the field. In college I am looking for a dynamic and challenging environment with a balance between academics and athletics. Being a multi-sport athlete has added to my physical strength and field maturity. This has also taught me time management that will allow me to balance both rigorous athletics and academics. I am dedicated to both my passion for field hockey, my academics, and to being the best student-athlete possible.
