Personal Statement
My athletic interest began as soon as the day I knew how to walk. Being from a sports oriented family where my three sisters that have participated in a Division 1 sport I have that inclination. I have tried many sports such as soccer, volleyball, basketball and water polo but I have never found a sport like field hockey. I started playing in 7th grade and have fallen in love with the sport. I love the energy of the team. There's something special about field hockey. It just makes your smile.I love the sound the ball makes when it hits my pad or a good strong clear to the side.
I made it my personal goal to be the best I can be so at freshmen year tryouts when I got stuck behind two upperclassmen goalies. I made it my goal to work hard that I could surpass them. I have worked hard joining two club teams one in California called the San Diego Hot Stix with whom I go to national tournaments, and a local Michigan one called Fer de lance where I receive one on one goalie training and go to local tournaments. My leadership skills have shown. I have serviced(served) as a president on a non profit board, on student council and was selected to be a student representative on my high school's foundation board. I have been captain both field hockey, water polo and my basketball teams. This year I was selected “Division 1 All State Second Team.” I was so happy that my hard work has payed off. I thrive on learning new skills and tactics and just love being challenged by my coaches and teammates. I'm going to keep striving and pushing myself to become the best possible collegiate player I can be. I cannot imagine my life without field hockey. It has truly shaped the person I am today. I would love the opportunity to keep playing it.
