Competitive sports have been a constant in my life since the age of 4. This is where my foundation for self-discipline was established, training the USA gymnastics program from the age of 4 through 12, often training 16 to 20 hours a week, year round.
I picked up my first field hockey stick at the age of 12 when I realized my heart and soul and more importantly my mind were no longer 100% dedicated to the sport of gymnastics. I am a strong athlete with a positive attitude.
The position I prefer to play on the field hockey field is midfield because I have the responsibility of being actively engaged in all aspects of the game. I have been told by my coaches that I'm a highly coachable player that has the ability and talent to play any position on the field. They have also labeled me as an explosive player that has speed, power, quickness and field awareness. I believe I am a leader on and off the field, who desires to learn more, refine my skills and improve my game every chance I get.
In addition to the sport of field hockey, I play lacrosse year round, and my best timed mile is 6:31. I work hard at my academics and find that participating in two sports year round keeps me focused and on task. I have been gainfully employed during the summer months since the age of 14 and am highly dedicated to all commitments I make, seeing them through to the end. I am intrinsically motivated to excel at all endeavors I undertake!
I believe that gratitude, a value in my own life, should be central to a team's culture. Teamwork at all times and most importantly with the toughest games is what truly defines a team's character. It is with these beliefs that I look forward to continuing my athletic career by playing the sport of field hockey at the collegiate level at a NCAA institution that is the perfect match for me!
