Samantha Stolker '17 Recruiting Profile

My name is Samantha Stolker, and, I am a member of the 2017 Graduating Class of Holmdel High School in New Jersey.    I am interested to learn more about your field hockey program, and, hopefully your need for a tall, athletic, intelligent, coachable goalie!

As a junior this past season, my 1^st playing the position, I started in goal and played every minute of every varsity game for Holmdel High School.  Prior to that, I played goalie in street hockey leagues since I was seven-years-old.  At 5’ 10” tall, my height and athleticism have also helped me play travel, AAU, and now, high school basketball, and I am a 1^st/3^rd baseman on the high school softball team as well.  As my quick reflexes have always been an asset, my true passion has become being the best field hockey goalie I can be.  I intend to only play field hockey at the collegiate level.

I was approached by our high school field hockey coach in the middle of my sophomore year and was asked if I had any interest in playing for our school team.  Last summer I began training rigorously under Coach Matt Jobson, and was then quickly recruited to play for Jersey Intensity.  I have been called fearless and a natural by my coaches.  My high school team is young and improving, but we struggled against some teams we played last season, including a few teams highly nationally ranked.  This provided me with the opportunity to face the best – many games I had 25 to 30 saves.   

I am in between seasons with Jersey Intensity but I would love for you to come see me play in the upcoming months.  I am also happy to work out for you if you will give me that opportunity.  I am confident you will quickly learn to love my slide tackle!

I also take my academics very seriously.  I currently hold a 3.3 GPA and I am in two honors classes.  I am going to be taking three AP classes next year.  I have scored a 1770 on my SATS and will be taking them again in the spring to improve my scores.
