Personal Statement
One of my life dreams has been to be an ice hockey goalie. From the age of 7 I have been playing ice hockey and I remember asking my parents to be the goalie, but my parents thought I should learn to skate first so I did learn to be a good defensive hockey player and the goalie position just never worked out. I am still playing ice hockey and love that sport, but my true passion is now Field Hockey. As a Freshman at Randolph High School, I was told they were looking for goalies at the Freshman level. I tried out with 3 other players for the goalie position and earned the starting Varsity position my Freshman year. I finished my first season with 111 saves and fell immediately in love with the sport and the position. This was a new sport for me since there was no feeder field hockey program in our town, so I had a lot to learn. I joined a travel club team, Rapid Fire Elite and began taking private goalie lessons to fine tune my skill set.
I now have played 2 seasons with Randolph High School and finished my sophomore year with 155 saves in addition to having the most shut outs (8) in my conference. I always knew goalie was a great position for me and field hockey has given me a chance to follow my dreams. I will be continuing to attend many tournaments, college showcases, private goalie training, and summer camps to improve my chances to continue playing this sport I love in college.
