Personal Statement
My goal is to continue doing what I love; protecting the cage. I do everything in my power to stop everything coming my way in order to not only protect the goal, but also to protect my team. Being a part of a team has drastically changed my life for the better and I would love the opportunity to be a part of a new one as well.
Academically, my schedules have been peppered with accelerated classes since the fifth grade, honors classes since ninth grade and advanced placement classes since tenth grade. It was rough, but even as a dual season athlete I made time for my academics and did everything in my power to do well in every class.
I started playing field hockey in the seventh grade when my school district cut soccer out of the athletic program. (Soccer was my original sport and I played goalkeeper.) When I learned I had made the team, I was shocked; I had never played before and I didn't want to let my new coaches and new teammates down. My coach wheeled what looked like a body bag in front of me, opened it and taught me how to gear up. After a couple of games, she decided to play around with the line up and start me instead. Between anxiety and nerves, I found my thirteen year-old self in the cage. As weird as it seems, I got more comfortable with every shot I stopped.
Six years later, I'm still doing what I love and I would love to continue.
