Personal Statement
I would be honored to have the opportunity to play field hockey in college while earning a Bachelor's degree. I love the sport and would like the chance to represent the university that I will attend. I enjoy being on a team and creating long lasting friendships. When playing a school sport, I feel focused and disciplined in both my academics and athletics. I am a hard worker and very coachable. I am willing and wanting to learn and improve my field hockey skills to become a better player than the year before. I am constantly working on improving my athleticism and stick skills by attending clinics, working out, practicing at home, taking private lessons and playing year round with my club, TCOYO.
Last year (2015) was a great year for me because I was selected to participate as a U14 in the USA Field Hockey Futures National Championship, which was my first year participating in the Futures program. I was also selected to play as a freshman on the nationally ranked (7th) First Colonial High School varsity team. It was rewarding to learn that I was the highest scoring freshman on the team, which helped my team get to post season play. It was a great experience to be a part of such a talented team, earn my varsity letter, and win the Group 6A State Championship.
So far 2016 has been another great year for me. I earned a varsity letter in gymnastics while playing indoor hockey with my new U16 TCOYO team. I was recognized by Max Field Hockey as a top 50 player for the Class of 2019. This summer, I played a lot of field hockey by attending several camps and playing in big tournaments. I had a lot of successes, which included my Region 8 Futures Mexico City team placing 4th overall in the NFC and my U16 TCOYO team winning Silver in the NCC. I am really looking forward to the fall because I was recently selected to play as varsity starter for my high school team.
