I have learned many great things from participating in football. This game has changed my entire outlook on and attitude toward life. Before my freshman year at East High, I was afraid to fail, had no confidence and turned away from seemingly impossible challenges. Football has altered all of these qualities. Over the years, playing football has taught me what it takes to succeed. From months of tough practices, I have gained a hard work ethic. From my coaches and fellow teammates, I have learned to work well with others in a group, as it is necessary to cooperate with teammates on the playing field. But most important, I have also gained self-confidence. If I fail, it does not matter if they mock or ridicule me; I will just try again and do it better. I realize that it is necessary to risk failure in order to gain success. Now, I welcome the challenge. Whether I succeed or fail is irrelevant; it is only important that I have tried and tested myself. â?¨ Now that my senior year is coming to a close I have made the decision to continue my passion for sports by pursuing Broadcast Journalism. I would like for my dream as a kid to come true and that is to attend college and play football and make it to the NFL. The failures that I have experienced, make me stronger as a person to give me the drive to continue my education. This money would help me make my dream a reality. I do not have the greatest oppunities to pay for college, I have no help, and gaining scholarship money would be a blessing to my family and me. Most people will do whatâ??s easiest and avoid hard work and thatâ??s precisely why I do the opposite. The incredible opportunities of life will be attacked by crowd of people seeking whatâ??s easy. The much tougher challenges will usually see a lot less competition and a lot more opportunity. I have shown in my life that I have overcome many struggles to make me a better person for the future. The toughest struggle was overcoming the death of my dad. He left me right at my prime when I was ten. I felt like there was no point of living. At one point in time I would never go to his grave sight, but once I went there I never wanted to leave him. As I got older the emotion of my dad being dead was fading away and I started to become my normal self. Knowing that I had to move on because he was gone, gave me the drive to help my mom. The way to help my mom and myself is to attend college and become successful. I feel my failures have made me stronger and will make my success even better now I am closer to my dream.
