It is hard to believe, I have now finished my final regular season in high school. My team mates and I are hard at work to be the best in the coming post season. This is our head coach's 26th season and the as one of the seniors I hope to make it memorable with all the wins. I am ready to help lead our team through the playoffs!
We finished our season second in the region with a 9-1 record. We play our first play off game at home this week, Despite a dislocated elbow toward the beginning of the season, I have been able to come back strong. This season I had many solo and team tackles, along with multiple sacks, forced turn overs and a couple of fumble recoveries and two on side kick recoveries. It has been a great season so far with more to come!
Our first game this season was a big win 38-15 over a school in a class above us. It was a huge win for us mentally. I was able to contribute with a sack and fumble recovery as well as many tackles. Now we dig in and prepare for our first home game this week.
Last season is in the past and its time to work hard and prepare for this year. Although we finished 12-1, 10-0 regular season we can be better! This past season I was able to contribute by recovering a fumble that converted to a touchdown a play later. The end of the season saw me playing with a different jersey #87, as starting tight end. (excited!!) My main contribution this season has been playing quick guard.
Since TRM's Coach Rigg's wife slipped me into the locker room when I was in the first grade I have been hooked on football. Don't get me wrong, it has always put a ball in my hand and watch me go. But the feeling of being part of the team in the locker room changed the way I looked at football. It wasn't just tossing the ball around and running your buddy over. It was being a part of a competition bigger than yourself. It has made me a better person. Watching the high school boys taught me how much hard work paid off, the pain and gain effect. Now I am one of those high school boys, and aspire to be as good or better than they were then. Last season (soph) I had 7 sacks, 2 pass disruptions and managed to knock the ball loose from the QB on the play pictured in my profile. That is a good start. I plan to challenge myself to improve and create more opportunities when I play.
The coaches in my life, football, baseball and basketball have really encouraged me to be the best person I can. One day I want to be able to do that for someone else. To accomplish that I must attend college. I hope to use the athletic ability God gave me by working hard to earn a scholarship to help me get an education. Then I can help someone else achieve their dream.
