Personal Statement

My name is Rashad Nelson and my dream is to be a collegiate football player for a university that represents itself in a first class manner in the classroom and on the field.  This has been my dream since I moved from New Orleans,  Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina to San Antonio, Texas. In a military/football based household, now living with my cousins, I learned what it means to have work ethic to achieve your goals. In that year I learned of role models such as Jerry Rice and Larry Fitzgerald and have since strive to model my game after the two, as well as others. Numerous critics have told me I could not achieve this goal do to my god given speed. I took the criticism as motivation and responded with countless hours of work on weekends from sunrise to sunset. I believe there is always room for improvement and decided at a early age you have to be willing to pay the ultimate price to be the best. I insist on running perfect routes and catching every ball thrown my way. If by any chance a ball happens to slip threw my outstretched hands I will face the consequences placed on myself. I love to compete against anyone despite age, size, or grade. I work hard everyday possible and I am certain one day it will pay off. My motto is work harder than the best and you will be better than the rest which implies TAKE NO DAYS OFF!

Off the field I try my best to display the best possible character in representing myself, my families name, my school, and my team. I intend to do the same to any university who wishes me to be apart of their program. In the classroom I am a leader and display great academic scores that can be found in the academic section of my profile.
