I belong to a very close family. I have grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins who all live within a few minutes of my home and have always been an active part of all aspects of my life. My parents both have advanced degrees. My parents are also huge sports fans and have supported me throughout my life both on the field and off. My entire family has always taught me to give what I do my very best, even if the end result isn’t always perfection. During my life I have played tennis, baseball, soccer, basketball and football as well as spending my free time at the lake wakeboarding and attempting to play golf.
I have always watched a lot of different sports (my mom is always calling me “Jack Herbstreit” because I am always rattling off statistics and facts about different players and sports), but I had always been most passionate about baseball. I had played baseball since I was about five and was a pretty good left handed pitcher (I also played first base). However, after dislocating my elbow and realizing I would have to have surgery to repair it, I decided to change sports and started playing soccer again. I played for both Horace Mann Middle School and the Little Rock Futbol Club. Soccer led me to football where on the first day of summer practice I realized my kicking potential. In 2012-2013 started 9 of the 10 freshmen games as kicker at Little Rock Central High played as well as starting as kicker during one Junior Varsity game and dressing-out with the Varsity team for the majority of its games as back up kicker.
Sports, football included, have taught me how to stay cool under pressure and to persevere. I enjoy being a part of a team and don't mind the hard work required to succeed on or off the field.
My academic goals for high school are to focus my studies on science and math and graduate from Little Rock Central High School with a 3.85 or better (better would be great). My current plan for college is to major in Pre-Med at a D1 school and become an orthopaedic surgeon.
I am very serious about improving my kicking and punting skills, believe it is important to listen to my coaches and to give 100 percent of my effort every time I am at practice or in a game. Some days, games or practices are better than others, but I try to learn something from every experience and continue improving my skills.
